Account & Data

Kachd gives you full control over your account and data. You can export everything we store about you or permanently delete your account at any time.

Deleting Your Account

To permanently delete your account:

  • Open your DM settings by clicking your avatar, then selecting Settings
  • Scroll to the Danger Zone section at the bottom of the page
  • Click Delete My Account
  • Type exactly DELETE MY ACCOUNT in the confirmation field
  • Click Permanently Delete

You will be signed out immediately after deletion.

What Gets Deleted

Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. The following data is removed:

  • Your user profile (username, display name, bio, avatar, banner, social links)
  • All communities you own, including all their channels, messages, and files
  • Your memberships in other communities
  • All messages you sent in community channels
  • All direct messages you sent
  • All friendships
  • All file upload records
  • All purchases
  • All notifications
  • Your authentication account

Note on file storage: Kachd deduplicates files by SHA-256 hash. If another user uploaded the same file, the underlying storage object is retained. Only your reference to it is removed.

Data Export

You can download a copy of all data Kachd stores about you. Navigate to your DM Settings and click Export My Data. A JSON file will be downloaded containing:

  • Profile — Username, display name, bio, avatar URL, platform role, account creation date
  • Communities — Name, slug, your role, and join date for each community
  • Messages — Your last 1,000 community messages (ID, content, timestamps)
  • Direct Messages — Your last 1,000 DMs (ID, content, timestamps)
  • Friendships — Friend ID, status, and creation date
  • Purchases — Purchase ID, amount, status, and date
  • Files — File ID, filename, and upload date

Data export is rate-limited to once per hour per account.

Note: Encrypted DMs will appear as base64 ciphertext in the export. You need your local encryption keys to decrypt them.

Your Privacy Rights

Under GDPR and similar regulations, you have the right to access, correct, delete, and export your personal data. You can also object to processing or withdraw consent at any time.
